Community Support Director (part-time position)
Location: Billings and Bozeman (2 positions open)
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Position Summary: The Community Support Director (CSD) is responsible for building a strong local visibility and fundraising program for his/her assigned community and surrounding counties/region, including one or more local fundraising events per year. Direct participation in the major gift program, including identification, positioning, and cultivation of the Chapter's major and leadership gift prospects, in partnership with the CAO and CEO. The CSD will be assigned an annual fundraising goal for his/her region. He/she will develop/support a local Leadership Council for community positioning.
Major Responsibilities:
- Identify and recruit a Local Leadership Council for community positioning and local fundraising initiatives including events and community campaigns.
- Work with the CAO to identify a portfolio of regional prospects and assist the CEO and CAO in positioning and cultivating of those prospects.
- Collaborate with the Resource Development Associate to design appropriate cultivation events throughout his/her respective region. Support the Chapter's annual signature event.
- Serve as a member of the resource development team, assisting when necessary with other duties as assigned, including possible capital campaigns and the cultivation of Board Resource Development Committee members.
- Responsible for local and regional public and community relations. Membership in community and business organizations is essential.
Other Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of American Red Cross products, programs and services must be developed.
- As a contributor to the work of an emergency relief organization, extended work hours and/or assignment to a disaster/emergency-specific task may be required.
Qualifications: (Required for fully successful performance)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible major gift fundraising is desired. Proven experience raising multiple gifts over $5,000 is required. Experience raising gifts over $10,000 is highly desired. Experience should include working with community leaders and other volunteers in fundraising initiatives.
- Knowledge of philanthropy and community and public relations is required. Strong communications, leadership, organization, team building and interpersonal skills are essential. Ideally, the successful candidate will have well-established fundraising contacts in his/her local community.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple projects and work effectively with diverse groups is required. Willingness to travel in his/her region and work evening and weekend hours is required.
